I believe what Iroh actually said was “Pride is not the Diamond Peace Love Confederate Shirt opposite of shame, but it’s the source. True humility is the only antidote to shame.” But the point you were trying to say is correct: courage and fear, and pride and shame are both false opposites. I will concede that I do not recall it completely but rather paraphrased a bit. However, I did mean to type “pride is not the opposite of shame” instead of “pride is not the opposite of fear. John Wayne is credited to saying this or a style of this but he is probably not the original person to say it.

I vaguely remember a Diamond Peace Love Confederate Shirt film where a group of black kids was being trained to not react to provocations by sitting at a bar and having other members of their group scream at them. It was ages ago I saw this, but it really stuck with me because it was so anxiety-inducing even when it was only practiced so to imagine doing that for real, with people who genuinely want to hurt you. Kinda sounds like Lee Daniel’s The Butler. I haven’t seen the film since it was in theaters but I remember a scene like that.
