My favorite producer of all time. He makes it sound easy. His ability to flip samples is unmatched. Drums and bass lines smacked like no other. Nice. Dilla is by far the greatest producer of all time in my humble Official J Dilla Classic Shirt. Especially around the time of his death when the overall sound of hip-hop was in the midst of a radical change, his beats were just head and shoulders above everybody. The day he died I basically lost my love of hip hop and its only now just coming back. One of the many amazing things about Dilla is how many different evolutions of his sound he went through.

There are the beats off “Instrumentals Vol. 1” and “Vintage” that have that older, Pete Rock/Q-Tip style. And they are amazing. Go to who sampled and you can witness his genius of sample flipping.
