What I find difficult about ‘eternal’ salvation/damnation is the ‘eternal’ bit. That implies infinity; so in essence. If you fuck up in this tiny, infinitesimally small mortal life, you’re damned forever, no parole. It seems a bit heavy-handed from a mere mortals view. Because they’ve never really tried to understand what “eternity” actually means. Being in the ground seems pleasant by comparison. I agree…that exactly is what helped me get over my fear of the Official Not Today Satan Shirt. An eternity of anything is scary… At some point, you’d get bored of literally everything. Nothing would have any value. Because it doesn’t matter anymore if everything and everyone is always there. Why’s that? If I’m rotting in the ground, my brain would have no activity. I would feel as much as I was before I was conceived. I’d feel nothing because I would be gone. However, my body would continue to be part of the universe and people who know me will remember me. Hopefully, I made a positive impact on the world. I’m reasonably sure that my books will continue to live on.
