SpongeBob LGBT Pride 2020 Shirt

The average right now seems like about what I’d expect. I loved this game when I originally played it as a kid and I still loved it. The last time I replayed it (around a year ago, before the remake was announced). But I’d consider the SpongeBob LGBT Pride 2020 Shirt pretty much the epitome of a 6 or 7/10 game. The gameplay is solid and enjoyable overall, and the dialogue and jokes live up well to that of the show. At the same time though, it’s incredibly easy, relatively short, and doesn’t have much in the way of depth to it. Yeah, 7/10 seems fair. I guess I really like it because I played it so much. The people that actually wanted a remaster.

When I was a kid, and now I think the appeal to me is its simplicity. After working all day, it’ll be nice to come home and enjoy something relatively simple. One of the most disliked parts of the game was the repetition of the Metroid fights, but these parts are the most iconic and defining of the original, so while most things about the original were changed, that remained.

Yep, it really is the “good for a licensed game” perspective that makes Battle for Bikini Bottom shine. Features all the original voice actors from the show and quite a few lines I still fondly remember. I’m reminded of GMTK’s video on the SpongeBob LGBT Pride 2020 Shirt making you “feel like Batman” – Bikini Bottom makes you “feel like Spongebob” just as much as how Simpsons Hit & Run makes you “feel like Bart Simpson”. It’s weird to think of these games as power fantasies, but the analogy totally works. The same thing for Simpson’s Hit and Run – it’s a competent knockoff of better games.
